She is half English and the other half Spanish. The parents of her are Dennis Alan Taylor an ex-banker and Jennifer Marina Joy psychologist. Her father is an Argentinean of Scottish and English heritage is also her mother. Her mother is of Spanish and English heritage. Her siblings include four members of her father's old marriage. They lived in Buenos Aires until she was six years old, and then moved to the Victoria region of London. Taylor-Joy shared that her transfer was difficult, and decided to not study English in the hope of be able to return to Argentina. Hill House was the new school she had to attend after she left Northlands. Her next school was Queen's Gate School, where she took dance classes and appeared in various productions. After 16 she decided to leave school to focus in acting full-time. Taylor-Joy always knew that her ultimate goal was to be an actress. The opportunity came when Sarah Doukas founder of Storm Management, offered Taylor-Joy a modelling position.
